Branding Photography

A library of on-brand images for a company or product brand: team, workspace, products in use and details, for website, social and campaigns.

What does branding photography cost?

Branding photography for companies starts from €350 on TulipFrame for a planned session producing a set of images in your brand style: people, places, products and details. Half-day and full-day shoots build a larger content library. The final quote varies with the shot list, locations, props or models, usage rights and duration.

Branding photography gives a company its own image library: photos that look like your brand guide rather than stock, and that your marketing team can use across the website, social media, newsletters and campaigns for months.

It is about the brand, not one person. If you are a freelancer or founder who needs photos of yourself for your own profile, personal branding photography is the right service.

Branding vs corporate vs personal branding

The three overlap, so it helps to be clear:

ServiceFocusTypical client
Branding photographyThe company or product brand: mood, colours, products, team in contextA café, a D2C brand, a studio, an agency
Corporate photographyDocumenting people and premises accuratelyA firm needing management portraits and office photos
Personal brandingOne individual as the brandA coach, consultant or creator

A branding shoot is the most planned of the three. The images need to work together as a set: same colour grading, repeated props, a consistent angle on your products.

Building the shot list

Start from where the images will be used, not from what looks nice:

  • Website: hero images in wide format with space for text; about-page images of the team.
  • Social media: vertical 4:5 and 9:16 crops, details, behind-the-scenes, sequences for carousels.
  • Campaigns and ads: a few strong images with copy space, often in both square and vertical.
  • Newsletters and blog: flexible supporting images.

Then list what should appear: products in use, hands at work, the workspace, packaging, the team, customers (with consent). Add your brand colours and fonts so the photographer can bring matching props and backgrounds. A mood board of five to ten reference images is more useful than a long brief.

Locations, models and props

Most branding shoots happen at your premises, supplemented with one outdoor location that fits your brand: a canal-side street in Amsterdam, the Rotterdam harbour cranes, a dune landscape for outdoor brands. Photographing in public space for commercial purposes can require permission in some municipalities, especially with a larger crew or equipment on the street; check with the municipality before planning a big outdoor setup.

If your own team will appear, schedule them in blocks. For lifestyle images with customers, a photographer can suggest models; model fees and usage rights are then quoted separately. Anyone recognisable should sign a model release for commercial use.

Usage rights and invoicing

Branding images are used widely and for a long time, so agree the licence in writing: channels (web, social, print, paid ads), territory and duration. Broad organic use is commonly included; paid media campaigns and billboards may be quoted on top.

Quotes to companies are often excluding BTW; ask for a VAT invoice with your company details.

A sample half-day plan

This is how a four-hour branding shoot at a small Amsterdam concept store with its own product line might run:

TimeWhatImages for
09:00Setup, walk-through, check the mood board—
09:30Shop interior before opening, empty and styledWebsite, Google profile
10:15Products in use: hands, packaging, detailsSocial, product pages
11:00Founder and team at work, pouring coffee, servingAbout page, recruitment
11:45Street and facade, a short walk to the nearest canalHeaders, campaigns
12:30Flat lays in brand colours on the counterSocial carousels, newsletter

The order matters: interiors first while the space is empty, people in the middle when everyone is warmed up, and styled details last because they need no one else.

In winter, plan any outdoor part before 15:00. For shoots in Rotterdam or Utrecht, the city pages list the neighbourhoods with the kind of backdrop most brands look for.

Branding Photography: questions

How is branding photography different from personal branding?

Branding photography is about a company or product brand; personal branding focuses on one individual. See personal branding photography for founders and freelancers.

How many images do we get?

Typically 30–60 for two hours and 120–220 for a full day, depending on the shot list. These ranges are indicative, not promises.

Can we use the images in paid ads?

Agree it in the licence. Organic use is commonly included; paid advertising may be quoted separately.

Do we need permission to shoot on the street?

Small shoots usually need nothing, but commercial shoots in public space with a crew or equipment can require permission in some municipalities. Check with the municipality.
