How much does a photographer cost in Tilburg?

Graduation photography in Tilburg starts from €150, as do headshot sessions. Personal branding photography starts from €250, family photography from €250 and couple photoshoots from €180. For businesses, company headshots start from €300 and event photography from €300. The final quote depends on the photographer, the length of the session, the number of people and the date.

Tilburg is one of the Netherlands' larger cities, but few visitors come for a holiday photoshoot, and it would be misleading to suggest otherwise. Photo requests here come mostly from residents, from students at Tilburg University and Fontys who want graduation or portrait photos, and from local businesses that need headshots, team photos or event coverage.

What the city does have is some of the best reuse of industrial buildings in the country. The Spoorzone, the old railway workshops next to the station, has been turned into a cultural district, and its centrepiece, the LocHal, is a public library inside a former locomotive shed. Add the Piushaven canal harbour and, one stop down the line, the fens and woods of Oisterwijk, and you have enough variety for everything from branding shoots to family sessions.

Why photograph in Tilburg

Industrial spaces made public

The Spoorzone turned decades of rail workshops into a district of halls, open squares and old tracks. The LocHal keeps the huge doors, the steel structure and the height of a locomotive shed, which gives business portraits and personal branding sessions a lot of character.

A student city

Tilburg University's wooded campus and the students who move through the city every year keep graduation photography and portrait sessions busy around June and July. The campus is green and a short bus ride from the centre.

Nature one train stop away

Oisterwijk, about seven minutes by train, sits at the edge of the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen: pine forest, heath and small fens with still water. It is the go-to for family and maternity sessions when people want nature rather than brick.

Best photography locations in Tilburg

  1. 01 · Spoorzone

    LocHal

A former locomotive shed turned public library and meeting space, with steel trusses, huge sliding doors, tall glass walls, big textile curtains and stepped seating. It is dramatic and very recognisable, and it is a strong setting for headshots and branding portraits.

Best time: Weekday mornings, when it is quietest. Light through the glass facade is soft for most of the day.

Tip: It is a working library with people studying. Ask at the desk before any paid shoot, keep kit minimal and don't photograph visitors without permission.

  2. 02 · Spoorzone

    Spoorzone

The former NS railway workshop grounds behind the station: brick halls, old rails set into the pavement, open squares and new buildings between them. It works for urban portraits, team photos and events, with plenty of room to move.

Best time: Late afternoon, when the sun comes in low over the rail yard and lights up the brick.

Tip: Events and festivals use the halls and squares regularly, so check what's on before you pick a date.

  3. 03 · Oud-Zuid

    Piushaven

A canal harbour south-east of the centre with moored boats, a waterfront promenade, bridges and busy café terraces. It is Tilburg's most relaxed, sociable backdrop, ideal for couples and friends.

Best time: Summer evenings, when the water catches the sunset and the terraces are lively.

  4. 04 · Tilburg West

    Leijpark

A large park with a lake, wide lawns and wooded edges, where locals picnic, run and walk dogs. There is space for children to run around and plenty of open light, which makes it a practical choice for family sessions.

Best time: The hour before sunset, with the lake to the west.

Tip: Festivals use the park several weekends a year. Check the event calendar.

  5. 05 · Warandelaan

    Tilburg University campus

A wooded campus on the western edge of the city, mixing modernist faculty buildings with trees and ponds. For graduates it is the natural setting, and the green parts also work well for relaxed portraits.

Best time: Graduation season is roughly June to July. Weekends are quiet on campus.

  6. 06 · Oisterwijk

    Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen

Pine and oak woodland scattered with small fens, heath and sandy paths, just east of Tilburg and managed by Natuurmonumenten. The still water reflects the trees beautifully and gives a calm, natural look for families and couples.

Best time: Early morning for mist and reflections. Late August into September, when the heath flowers.

Tip: Oisterwijk is one short train stop from Tilburg, then a walk or a short bike ride to the fens. Stay on the paths, as the fens are protected.

Best time of day

For the LocHal and the Spoorzone, time matters less than crowds. Weekday mornings are calmest. Outdoors, go for the last hour and a half before sunset at the Piushaven and the Leijpark, and early morning at the Oisterwijk fens when the water is still.

Tilburg through the seasons

Spring
The Oisterwijk woods and the Leijpark green up from April. It is a good time for family sessions before the busy graduation season.
Summer
Graduation photos peak in June and July. The Tilburgse Kermis funfair in July, one of the largest in the Benelux, fills the centre for about ten days: great for atmosphere, hard for calm shoots.
Autumn
The fens and woods around Oisterwijk turn gold. Students return in September, and the Spoorzone is busy with events.
Winter
Short days, so indoor shoots at the LocHal and office headshots make sense. Outdoor sessions go around midday.

Weather and the rain plan

Tilburg's weather is inland Brabant: showers any time of year and less wind than on the coast. The LocHal is the obvious indoor option, but ask at the desk first. For outdoor family sessions, agree a backup date with your photographer when you book.

Getting there and around

From Amsterdam, the train takes roughly 1 hour 20 minutes, direct or with a change at 's-Hertogenbosch or Breda depending on the timetable. Den Bosch and Breda are both about 15–20 minutes away, and Eindhoven about half an hour. The LocHal and the Spoorzone are right next to the station. Oisterwijk is one stop towards Den Bosch.

Local rules and etiquette

The LocHal is a public library first. Ask before shooting, keep kit small and don't disrupt people working. On university grounds, casual portrait photos are normal, but for anything bigger, like a team shoot or a filmed session, contact the university.

Photography in Tilburg: questions

How much does a graduation photoshoot in Tilburg cost?

Graduation photography starts from €150. Most sessions take place on campus or at the LocHal and last 30 to 60 minutes. The final price depends on the photographer, how long you book and whether family joins in.

Can we do a photoshoot in the LocHal?

It's a public library, so people come and go, but a paid or larger shoot needs permission. Ask at the desk or contact the library first. Keep kit minimal and avoid photographing other visitors.

Is Tilburg a place for a tourist photoshoot?

Honestly, not usually. Tilburg is a great city to live and study in, but it isn't a place tourists come to for holiday photos. If you are visiting the Netherlands for a holiday shoot, look at Amsterdam, Utrecht or Maastricht. If you live in or near Tilburg, it has plenty to offer.

Do photographers in Tilburg do company headshots at the office?

Yes. On-site company headshots start from €300. The photographer sets up a backdrop and lights in a meeting room, and each person takes a few minutes. Tell us your headcount and the style you want.

Where can we do a nature family shoot near Tilburg?

The Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen, one train stop east, has woods, heath and still fens. The Leijpark is the easy option within the city. Family photography starts from €250.
